James Rohleder, a former student of the UTA school Ahn’s of Anderson, has been selected to be a member of the United States Military Taekwondo Team. Mr. Rohleder is currently attached to the 82nd Airborne Division based in Georgia.
The US Military team will be competing at the CIMA Games in Rio De Janiero, Brazil scheduled for the last week of November 22018. The CIMA Games are an international military event that is held annually.

The UTA Classic Weapons Program continues to grow! We would like to congratulate Mr. Ryan Moll and Master Norman Kim for their recent promotions.
Grandmaster Randolph Smith, Sr., the head of the UTA Classic Weapons program recently promoted Mr. Moll to 3rd Dan and Master Kim to 2nd Dan. Their performances were deemed outstanding, and their dedication and training really showed.
We offer sincere thanks to Grandmaster Smith for his continued guidance and instruction for the UTA Classic Weapons Program. He has been and will continue to be an integral part to the program’s success!

Mr. Rohleder is a graduate from Miami University now serving in the 82nd Airborne division. We thank him for his service and wish him continued success!
Last month, Team Ahn competed at the 2018 AAU National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Competing against approximately 2,000 of the nation’s best competitors from all over the United States and Puerto Rico, Master Ryan Newburn, Mr. Paul Walden, and Sean Herzig represented Ahn Taekwondo Institute with outstanding performances. Team Ahn was coached by Master Hamilton and Master Newburn.
Budokai Taekwondo also had a very successful team compete. Coaching 16 total athletes, Master Gerhardt, Master Gutzwiller, and Mrs. Gerhardt led many students to victories in both Olympic Sparring and Form competition.
We would like to offer congratulations to all competitors and coaches as well as thanks for representing our associaiton with dignity, sportsmanship, and dedication. We know that each one of them have dedicated hours to their training, traveled around the Midwest for tournaments, and pushed themselves each day to reach their goals. We are proud to have them as a part of the United Taekwondo Associaiton!
The annual Ahn Taekwondo Classic was held on April 27, 2018 in Mason, Ohio. This was the 51st anniversary for the event. The honorary chairperson for the event was Grandmaster Kyongwon Ahn. The Tournament Director was Master Jamie Hamilton.
The events showcased at the tournament were breaking, forms, Olympic style sparring, and point sparring. 550 competitors form 66 schools and clubs competed throughout the day – with the final match ending at 7:00 pm. Is was a great day thanks to all the referees, volunteers, and competitors.
The Ahn Classic is one of the larges Taekwondo events in the mid-west. With competitors coming from five states this year, we are already looking forward to next year’s tournament. This will be our 52nd anniversary, and the planning has already begun.

We are pleased to announce that the logo for the United Taekwondo Association (UTA) has been issued trademark status by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The certificate of registration was received on May 1, 2018.
Securing a trademark for the UTA is just one of the projects that we have in process to secure the legacy of Grandmaster Kyongwon Ahn. This is an important step for the UTA, and we appreciate the support htat we have recieved from our Grandmasters, Masters, Black Belts, schools, and clubs in the efforts to accomplish the goal.
Moving forward, the UTA logo will be seen with notice that it is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This is notice to the public that we have federal trademark rights in the mark.
Last month, one of our UTA Masters, Master Rob Gerhardt was promoted to Lieutenant of the Blue Ash Police Department. Master Gerhardt is the owner and cheif instructor of Budokai Taekwondo. Congratulations Master Gerhardt! Thank you for protecting our community, and thank you for representing the United Taekwondo Association so well.
